Update from Xenia Kessler D-211

26th September 2010

Xenia Kessler D-211

Straight after PWA 2010 in Lanzarote I strapped my gear on top of a car, and went on the ferry to be in Fuerte for some high wind training a couple of weeks. And I truly got what I asked for, even more wind! The sand was spraying up on our legs, when we stood and watched the beautifully blue ocean in Fuerteventura. It was really windy there. My 3.3 legend arrived while I was there, and since it arrived I did not use any other sail there. It was unbelievable windy! Most days we were in the ocean, but some days the big lagoon was visible between the two centers there, and I was enjoying some flatwater action along with my friends.

After a few weeks in the high winds, I reached Danish ground again. I was back, with a boardbag full of nice memories and a big portion of lust to keep going for a lot of training. Denmark started off quiet, but lately winds here has been going off! Super nice! The last two weeks has been packed with windsurfevents – two new international initiatives happening on Danish ground: PWA world cup in Klitmøller and Waterz event in Hvide Sande.

For the first time ever, Denmark has hosted a PWA World Cup in Waves. Super cool. Everything went at its best, and the conditions were awesome. I spent some days in Klitmøller during the worldcup to practice with the others in the great conditions, and once again my 3.3 legend did his job great.

I’ve also taken part in another new initiative in Denmark: Waterz. A huge event gathering windsurfers in different disciplines, wakeboarders, kiteboarders, surfers, SUP’ers etc. all together in one event. This was a great event, with both national and international participators, and for sure an event to join next year. There wasn’t much wind on the day I was supposed to perform in a freestyleshow, so  instead the show turned into some tow-in freestyle after a jetski . Super hard, but great fun! :)

Next up are the Danish Championships, where I will be competing against the men… tough one… But I look forward to it! And then it is soon time to pack up the bag and leave for some winter training overseas. Can’t wait!  :)
