Steven ranked 4th in the EFPT ranking
18th June 2008
Steven Van Broeckhoven confirmed again his big talent during both the Europeans Freestyle Pro Tour events in Vassiliki and Milos Beach on the Lefkada island in Greece. During his first competitions in Tarifa (EFPT) and Podersdorf Austria (EFPT and PWA) he already surprised the world by his exceptional entry.

2 weeks before the EFPT events in Greece, Steven broke his big toe during training, so it was very unsure he would be able to compete there. He couldn't train because of his toe, and so he had to wait until competition started over there.
During the first Greek event in Vassiliki Steven eventually lost against Gunzlein. In this heat Steven was on the water with legend 4,7m but the wind dropped suddenly at the start of the heat and Steven didn't have the time to rig another sail, leaving Gunzlein to win the heat. Steven ended 5th in Vassiliki.
During the next event Steven took his revenge by beating Gunzlein in the quarter finals. Steven lost from Otaegi in the semi's. Otaegi won the single final. Steven beated Ackgazian and ended 3th in the single.
In the double he lost from Gunzlein leaving him 4th after the double. Steven is ranked 4th in the EFPT now, a very good result for someone with a broken toe and 2 weeks without training before, and with a minimum of gear!
