The end of the 2005 competition schedule came to a close this weekend with a great event that happened in front of a crowd of over 150,000 people.

This year Sylt had its classic conditions of grueling, traitorous, hard core conditions. The racing event was a slalom 42 where you can register 2 boards and 4 sails. This happened most of the week with perfect conditions. There was one day of waveriding that happened in fair to marginal conditions.

Maui Sails riders had some good performances in the racing with a first place in one of the rounds, a couple seconds and thirds, as well as consistent finishes in the top ten.

"My sails felt pretty good out there. I think the conditions were fun and that slalom is definitely here to stay in Sylt" said Phil McGain.

"I registered my 11, 9, 7.6 and 6.6 TR-1's and I was really happy with these sails. I had a few problems like premature starts and equipment failure that didn't help too much but in the end it was a fun event. I didn't do very well in the waves and that just came down to not selecting the right waves. It is always a win or loose at Sylt and it seemed to get the better of me this year. It has gotten me a bit motivated for next year so we will have to wait and see what we are going to pull out of the bag." Said Kevin Pritchard.

For the year end results Maui Sails Team captured 2nd in the Super X, 4th in Slalom 42, 4th in waves and 7th in Freestyle. Not a bad year for the first year in business.
