What a blast from the past
14th March 2010
We just got this photo from Josh Angulo.
This is a custom product made for a 'location' probably in 1984. It is a TriRadial design, mostly Dacron material, and was the product range just before RAF sails were developed. These had outlines and boom length similar to today's sails and in many respects were the easiest and nicest wave sails of the day. Fred Haywood actually used TrRadials on the speed course in Weymouth a few times and did pretty good, but on the 'money' days, we were always on the Wing rigs.
It would have been great if Josh Angulo used the sail and could give us a performance report... :)
