US Open for TR-2
29th May 2006

Phil McGain from Australia won the Mens Pro slalom division with 5 victories out of 8, while Jimmy Diaz placed second and Gonzalo Costa Heovel took third place. Racing against competitors half his age, he was able to dominate the racing like a 25 year old.
Phil using the MauiSails TR2 6.6 race sail and his production Carbon Art board dominated the slalom racing over the rest of the field. One of the most impressive parts of the performance was his acceleration in and out of the bouys, this was evident from the beach as the racers came around the first mark, it was always McGain who would shoot out in front to set up for a clear victory.

The Formula was won by Jimmy Diaz. Who was consistent the 8 races took the victory over Gonzalo, with Devon Boulon in third, Wilhelm Schurman in fourth and Phil McGain finished in fifth place on a borrowed board after deciding on race day to compete in the event. The race organizers had originally planned to allow sailors to only compete in one discipline, but later changed there minds when it was clear the majority of sailors had come to race and wanted to do as much as possible during the weekend.
