Portugal PWA Wave is a sucess
20th June 2005
After 4 days of competition we have finally found a result. There was great action all week long with long days of competition. In the end Matt Pritchard claimed the victory followed by Kauli Saudi, Alex Musalini, John Skye, and Kevin Pritchard.
“Guincho was a challenging spot for me. I never really got in the groove in the first elimination and had a tough heat against Alex Musalini. For me I think it was the worst heat I have sailed since I had been on tour. He sailed a great heat and absolutely shattered me. I was really overpowered as the wind came up on an instant. I tried to do something good but I just couldn’t do anything out there. I was pretty bummed out and it was time to go back to the drawing board. The next couple days of waiting was so painful after sailing the way I did. Finally on the last day, there was some wind which was side onshore and I was using the Legend 5.7 then I went down to 5.3 Legend and finally on the 5.0 Legend. I managed to advance 4 heats and pull into 5th position before the wind died and we were not able to compete any longer. I was really happy to get these last heats in and actually sail in the contest with some aggression. Portugal is definitely a place to go back to and it was great to be there.” said Kevin.
