Kevin Pritchard 3rd in Alacati
21st August 2007
Alacati, Turkey, saw some fantastic conditions this week as over sixty competitors battled it out for over 45,000 Euros. The competition was tough and made for some heated battles. France's Antoine Albeau showed some great speed throughout the week, and Switzerland's Bjorn Dunkerbeck used his massive physical power to be hard to beat. Kevin Pritchard pushed them all the way with some great heats along the way, always battling for the top three. Throughout the week it was a see-saw battle, making it anyone's game to the end.
At the finish it was Albeau who kept his consistency who finished first. It came down to the last race between Dunkerbeck and Pritchard, when Dunkerbeck failed to make the final. However, Pritchard stumbled as well, not making into the crucial last top round. Dunkerbeck took the overall second place with a better discard result, and Pritchard finished in third.
Kevin said, "I had great speed this week. I'm a bit disappointed because I had what it took to win the event. I knew I had the speed, I just didn't put it together. With everyone going so fast, if you make one mistake it's all over. You have to keep it together throughout the entire event and make every race count. I had some equipment troubles which cost me big time, and some mental errors kept me from capitalizing on my speed. My MauiSails/Starboard combination was really working great. I need to work harder on my mental game and always be in the pole position!"
